The Pediatric Endocrine Society of Kenya (PESK), in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Ministry of Health, aims to enhance the lives of children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) in Kericho County. This effort addresses issues such as missed diagnoses, inadequate management, and gaps in routine care.
PESK Training for Effective T1DM Management
Healthcare workers receive advanced training through workshops, seminars, and hands-on sessions covering:
Early T1DM Recognition: Identifying symptoms promptly for timely intervention.
Optimized Management Strategies: Using evidence-based approaches including insulin therapy, diet, and lifestyle changes.
Comprehensive Care Protocols: Providing holistic care that includes medical treatment, psychosocial support, and patient education.
Enhancing T1DM Care in Kenya
This initiative empowers healthcare workers, builds a network of trained professionals, and promotes improved diabetes care throughout Kenya, representing a significant step forward in supporting children and adolescents with T1DM.

Lots of new knowledge on DM management, yesterday was a fulfilling day for me though I need some more practice on DKA Management and and insulin carb ratio.
Lots of gratitude to our very able facilitors I hope by the end of the 3-day interaction il have unearned, and relearned and be able to assist clients on follow up at the Diabetes outpatient clinic and also be a resource to my colleagues and the community.
Very Educative and comprehensive training, easy to follow and the teachers have made it easy for all of us to be on the same page
Recommendations:To allocate more time to ensure everything is covered well and have the participants remain engaged
Training is very informative, facilitators are knowledgeable and keen on ensuring participants understand the topics.
Additional time and more practicals on insulin dosage calculations, have more practical sessions and discussions as opposed to lectures.
Thank you team for this training. So far it has been informative and enlightening and I believe it’s going to be a game changer in our facilities with regards to T1DM management. My suggestion; use more scenarios especially with initiation of insulin therapy ( basal bolus, intermediate long acting and premeal boluses)
Very interesting and informative training on current protocols of management of T1DM.The theory and practical experience were provided by the knowledgeable team and were impactful.Well done PESK.
The training was very educative and insightful. I really enjoyed the practical sessions. I cannot wait to put all I have learnt into practice and better the outcomes of our T1DM patients!
Amazing training with great facilitators. Had to unlearn old and wrong practices, and learn new knowledge. Really gives a comprehensive and holistic approach to the child and adolescent with T1DM.
