The Pediatric Endocrine Society of Kenya (PESK), in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Ministry of Health, is committed to enhancing the lives of children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) in Kisii County. This vital initiative addresses the challenges of missed diagnoses, inadequate management, and gaps in routine care for T1DM.
Empowering Healthcare Workers for Effective T1DM Management
PESK’s comprehensive training programs, including workshops, seminars, and hands-on sessions, are designed to empower healthcare workers with the latest knowledge and skills for:
Early T1DM Recognition: Ensuring prompt identification of symptoms for timely intervention.
Optimized Management Strategies: Implementing evidence-based approaches, including insulin therapy, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
Comprehensive Care Protocols: Providing holistic care that encompasses medical treatment, psychosocial support, and patient education.
Building a Network for Improved T1DM Care Across Kenya
This initiative not only empowers healthcare workers but also fosters a robust network of trained professionals advocating for enhanced diabetes care throughout Kenya. By supporting children and adolescents with T1DM, this collaboration represents a significant stride forward in pediatric diabetes management.

Well educative training with new updates,I learned that you should not stop giving insulin if the child is hypoglycemic facilitators thumb up I have really learned alot
The training has improved my deeper understanding of the rule of 15,dose adjustment as per the glucose levels and the us use of basal bolus and use of long acting insulin
I learned that there is no SPECIAL DIET for Dm type 1 patients. They should also exercise. The most and very important thing is ….GOOD CONTROL OF SUGARS 🙏🙏🙏
It’s been nice learning on Diabetes and growing of children, how to transision from premix to bassal bollus insulin, nutrition prescription should be on the availability of food.
This are the updates that we needed and they have come handy. Information is power and I have learnt a lot. More trainings for all medical personnel is needed .
